From the early age of 13,
Carter was addicted to the Hip-Hop scene and already writing lyrics. Now
ranking highly in the industry, at the age of 21 Carter was voted the
2010 “Urban Artist of the Year” award by Star Central, one of
Australia’s leading music/modeling agencies.
At the age of 16,
Carter released a throw together mix tape called ‘The New Era’ which was
downloaded by 1,000 people. In the year 2007, Carter released a song
dedicated to his late friend ‘Lee Newton’ entitled ‘Live in the Sky’,
which impacted all local radio stations in Sydney and Melbourne.
After
the release of a new mix tape titled Version II, Carter then released a
another which reached over 10,000 downloads. The mix featured guests
from Sony Recording Artists including Miracle (Stunna Shades), Glenn
Sousa (Tru Love), Lil’ B (U & Me) and upcoming American urban
heavyweight J Lye (Stunna Shades/Haterade/Thriller). Shortly after the
release, signed hip-hop artist Str8up-T approached Carter with a
nation-wide tour that sold out shows to an average of 2000 people a
night. After rounding up the tour, Carter returned to Sydney to focus on his first studio album titled ‘My Own Worst Enemy’. In
2011, Carter took on the identity change from his previous name Syko,
and also performed in front of 22,000 people during a Pre-game show for a
sold out NRL match. Keep your eyes and ears out for Carter's debut
studio album that looks to land late 2011 / Early 2012 with a
groundbreaking new sound to hit the Australian music market.
